Meet the Emperor. He loves clothes, jewellery and fame the most in the world.

Scene 1.

The palace.
Emperor is standing in front of the mirror.

Emperor: Beautiful, isn’ t it?
Ladies: Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…
Emperor: But so common!
Ladies: Common, common, common…
Emperor : There’s nothing unusual!
Ladies: Unusual…
Emperor: This is not what I‘ve dreamt about. It’ s terrible!!!
Ladies: Terrible, terrible, terrible…

Minister: Your Majesty. Two famous tailors have just arrived. They want to tell you a secret.
Ladies: Secret, secret!
Minister: Would you like to see them Your Majesty ?
Emperor: Of course! I love secrets !!!
Ladies: Love!

Emperor: Welcome! What’s the secret?
Tailor 1: Your Majesty, we have the magical material.
Ladies: Magical, magic…
Emperor: Be quiet!
Tailor 2: Only intelligent people can see it!
Ladies: Intelligent, inte….
Emperor: Quiet !!!
Tailor 1: You will be able to find out who is stupid and who is clever.
Ladies: Clever, stupid, clever, stupid.
Emperor That’s perfect! Make clothes for me and I’ll make you rich!
Ladies: Rich, rich, rich…

Scene 2.


Tailor 1: How stupid is he?
Tailor 2: Better be quiet… Somebody can hear us.
Ladies: Hear, hear, hear…
Tailor 1: Let’s pretend that we are working…

Scene 3.

Emperor: Tailors, where are they? I must see them!
Minister: Your Majesty, let me go.
Emperor: Fine, you’re the most intelligent in my court.
Minister: Thank you Your Majesty.
Emperor: Go and check my perfect clothes.

Scene 4.

Tailors: What a surprise!!!
Ladies: Surprise, surprise, surprise…
Minister: Surprise in did.
Tailor 1: What do you think of our work?
Minister: It’ s really magical!
Ladies: Magical, magical, magical…
Tailor 2: Look. Such colours, patterns, hard to believe.
Minister: True. Hard to believe.
Ladies : True, true, true…
Minister: I cannot see anything. Am I stupid ? But the Emperor will be so happy!

Scene 5.

Emperor: My dear, I’m so excited that I can’t wait to see my clothes.
Empress: Let me go first!
Emperor: Great idea! You have such a great taste!
Empress: Thank you Your Majesty!


Scene 6.

Tailors: What a surprise!
Ladies : Surprise, surprise, surprise…
Empress : WOW!
Ladies; Wow, wow, wow…
Tailors 1: We’ve just finished.
Empress: Have you ?
Tailor 2 :What do you think?
Empress: I cannot see anything, am I stupid? I think the Emperor will be so grateful.

Scene 7.

Emperor: And? Tell me, quickly.
Empress : Your Majesty! You must go and see your clothes!
Minister: Please, do it now Your Majesty!

Scene 8.

Tailor 1: I’m afraid! The Emperor is coming!!!.
Ladies: Oh no, oh no!
Tailor 2: Don’t worry be happy!
Minister: Look your Majesty, so perfect!
Ladies: Perfect.
Empress : Look Your Majesty, so trendy!
Ladies: Trendy.
Emperor: I cannot see anything. Am I stupid??? But , that is not important.…
I will wear my new clothes tomorrow.
Ladies: Oh no, oh no!

The final scene.

Minister and Empress are sitting and listening to music.
Ladies are dancing around the Emperor. The music ends and everybody sees the naked Emperor.
Minister : Your Majesty you are naked !!!
Ladies: Naked, naked, naked!
Emperor: Oh no!!!
Tailors: Run, now, quickly!

Narrator to the audience:
Remember, this happens when you are so selfish and vain.
