Konspekt lekcji języka angielskiego.Level: intermediate Duration: 45 minutes Materials: - handouts with exercises connected with vocabulary related to storytelling Interaction: group work, lockstep Topic: Fairy Tales. Language used in the lesson: - words and expressions related to fairy tales, for example: a witch, a wizard, a handsome prince, an enchanted castle, curse, to break/cast a spell, Once upon a time..., In bygone times..., And they lived happily ever after/for the remainder of their life/all their days. - past tenses – the Past Simple, Past Continuous and Past Perfect – used to tell stories. The aims of the lesson: - to practice vocabulary connected with fairy tales; - to practice telling stories; - to practice past tenses for narration; - to practice cooperation skills through peer-correction. Procedure: 1. The teacher asks students some questions related to the topic, for example: Did you like stories when you were children? Who told you stories? What was your favorite fairy tale? Do you know English titles of your favorite stories? 2. The teacher tries to elicit from the students some tale titles in English, for example: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the three Bears, Princes and the Pea, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. 3. The teacher tries to elicit how stories usually start and end, for example: Once upon a time..., Long, long time ago..., In bygone times..., In a country, far across the sea, there..., And they lived happily ever after., And they lived peacefully all their days., And everyone was as happy as they could possibly be. 4. The teacher asks the students to do the first exercise from the handout – students are to divide the words and expressions given into four categories: characters, objects, creatures, and places. 5. The teacher asks the students to do the second exercise from the handout – students are to match some words with the appropriate fairy tale title. 6. The students are asked to do exercise number three – they are to fill in the missing words into the fairy tale. 7. The teacher tells the students that they are going to work in groups of three. 8. Each group is going to write a fairy tale. The teacher reminds them to use the expressions given at the beginning of the lesson. 9. The teacher explains that she is going to walk around the room and underline the mistakes. However, the students are NOT to correct them yet. 10. The groups exchange their stories and they are to try to correct their classmates’ mistakes. The students are to write the correct version above the underlined mistake. 11. Then some students are to write a few sentences containing mistakes on the blackboard but without indicating where the mistake is. The rest of the group is to identify and correct them. 13.
